Local Nonprofit Hosting A Fundraiser To Benefit Metropolitan Ministries

Tampa, FL. — In January, the Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) will host its annual International Current Solutions in Shoulder and Elbow conference in Tampa, Florida. The course, directed by Drs. Mark Frankle and Mark Mighell of Florida Orthopaedic Institute, is designed to provide orthopaedic surgeons with a comprehensive update on treatments for various shoulder and elbow disorders. It will feature a lecture from New York Times bestseller David Epstein author of “The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of extraordinary Athletic Performance.” In conjunction with the course, FORE is hosting the second annual Orthopalooza Fundraiser to benefit Metropolitan Ministries.

“The Fundraiser is about raising money to help Metropolitan Ministries build a handicap accessible ramp at their Outreach Center,” said Derek Pupello, CEO of FORE “it will grant access to individuals with disabilities to the two-story building on their main campus.” In the last year, 18,635 of those seeking assistance from Metropolitan Ministries are physically disabled.
The fundraiser will take place January 18, 2014 at the Hilton Tampa Downtown from 7pm – 10pm. FORE aims to raise $30,000 or more to build the handicap accessible ramp. The event will feature live music, dancing, karaoke and a silent auction. There will be a special guest appearance and photo opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders. Cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets to the event are $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
