9th Annual Detroit Regional Sports Medicine Symposium

Course Description

The Detroit Regional Sports Medicine Symposium is dedicated to a multiple specialty, multi-faceted approach to the treatment and prevention of sports related injuries. In the face of lifestyle changing issues or injuries, we strive to return every individual to abilities at or above pre-injury levels. We accomplish this goal for individuals and athletes of every age and skill level allowing them to lead healthy, active, injury-free lives.

Target Audience

Attending physicians, residents, fellows and physician assistants who are interested in the specialties of sports medicine, orthopaedic surgery, PM & R, primary care and also physical therapists and athletic trainers.

  • Increase knowledge of current trends in the diagnosis and management of complex orthopaedic injuries
  • Increase knowledge of current trends in non-surgical management of injuries and review evidence based treatment recommendations
  • Increase knowledge of current trends in sports medicine


PHYSICIANS: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) and Detroit Sports Medicine Foundation.

FORE is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. FORE designates this live activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ATHLETIC TRAINERS: Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) (BOC AP# P3115) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 12 EBP Category hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.

PHYSICAL THERAPISTS: The Michigan Physical Therapy Association has certified that this course meets the criteria for approval of Continuing Education for Physical Therapists. This course has been approved by The MPTA for 12 Continuing Education Hours.
