About the Program

This collaborative fellowship between Florida Orthopaedic Institute and the Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education is a one-year, immersive training experience in adult reconstruction surgery. Fellows gain maximal exposure to hip and knee pathologies through a high patient volume across multiple clinical and surgical sites in the Tampa Bay area.

The program is built on a foundation established by FOI founder Dr. Phillip Spiegel, whose vision centered on the integration of clinical excellence and academic inquiry. In his honor, the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship remains deeply committed to research, requiring each fellow to complete a minimum of two publishable projects during the training year.

Fellows train alongside a distinguished team of fellowship-trained attending surgeons, gaining exposure to a wide range of techniques including computer navigation, small-incision approaches, muscle-sparing joint replacement, and complex revision surgery.
