Meet Our 2026–2027 Fellows

Get to know the researchers advancing orthopaedic science at FORE this academic year.

Jessica Chastain, DO

Jessica Chastain, DO

2026–2027 Research Fellow

Jessica is pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery, drawing on her background as a collegiate softball athlete and a passion for advancing musculoskeletal care through research.

Her research experience includes orthopaedic spine innovation work at St. Vincent Indianapolis, where she contributed to projects focused on improving clinical outcomes and evidence-based practice. She is excited to bring scientific discovery into meaningful improvements in patient care through translational research and academic medicine.

Kyle Struck, MD

Kyle Struck, MD

2026–2027 Research Fellow

Kyle is a recent graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery. His interest in musculoskeletal medicine began through years of playing baseball.

Kyle has contributed to a variety of orthopaedic research projects including studies focused on fracture patterns, sports medicine, and shoulder surgery. He is passionate about advancing evidence-based patient care and helping individuals return to the activities and lifestyles that matter most to them.

Hayley Ditmars, MD

Hayley Ditmars, MD

2026–2027 Research Fellow

Hayley graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2025 and completed a General Surgery internship at the University of Missouri in 2026.

Before medical school, she worked as a Clinical Research Assistant at Children's Hospital of Orange County, supporting pediatric orthopaedic research. She is excited to return to orthopaedics, contribute to research that improves patient care, and continue her journey toward becoming an orthopaedic surgeon.
